Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy announced that 90% of the country’s wind energy and up to 40% of solar generation have been lost

Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko said that the country has lost 90 percent of its wind power and 40 percent of its solar power generation, the main load will fall on the thermal power generation plants.

According to the minister, the main task of the country is to overcome the autumn-winter period, but the burden on thermal production will continue throughout the year.

“We have lost about 90% of wind generation and up to 40% of solar energy. Thus, thermal production will carry a significant load.”

The head of the Ministry of Energy noted that in the past three months the country’s power system facilities have been bombed every day, so the situation in the coal industry and in the energy sector of the country as a whole is quite complex. He explained that the calculations regarding the coal balance and consumption were adjusted according to the results of December.

Galushchenko concluded that the state will have to rely on its own coal mining during this and subsequent heating seasons.
