The European Commission (EC) plans to transfer €18 billion of new macro-financial assistance to Ukraine on a monthly basis. This was stated at a briefing by the EC’s press secretary, Dana Spinan, reported DEA News.
“We will start to transfer monthly predictable tranches to Ukraine throughout the year,” Spinan said.
On 9 November, the EC proposed a new macro-financial loan support program for Ukraine amounting to €18 billion for 2023. Later, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, said at a press conference after the EU summit in Brussels that the EU had agreed on this aid. The amount will be transferred to Ukraine in 2023, like the funds allocated in 2022 – as loans in installments and under preferential payment terms.
Previously reportedUrsula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, called the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. She promised help and added that she plans to meet with Zelensky on Ukrainian soil.
