In the new movie of the Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom franchise, the favorite warriors of Gaul ride in a chariot inspired by the 2CV. Built by Citro designersen.
The development and construction of the chariot took only three months. That’s right, the Citro teamen had to work overtime (usually it takes 12 months for a company to create drafts). However, according to the company’s design director, Pierre Leclerc, management and customers were very satisfied with the result.
“We had an incredible opportunity to design and build a concept car from scratch and we had a great time working on this project,” said Leclerc. – The result is an ode to the 2CV, the legendary car Citro stands foren in all its glory.
The chariot has windows, a sunroof and a wooden body. Her pendant is made of four pig stomachs and fireflies swarm in her headlights. To complete the look, Citro logo shields were chosen as wheels.en.
The chariot appears in several scenes in the film. For example, when Caesar’s army reaches China, a billboard with her image appears. According to the automaker, this ad is a subtle allusion to a Citro ad.en taken on the Great Wall of China.
Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom will be released on Netflix in Spring 2023. With Vincent Cassel (Black Swan, Ocean’s 12) and Marion Cotillard (Inception, La Vie en Rose).
