Since the beginning of the year, Sber has prevented hundreds of attacks and fraud against customers and the bank as a whole in the field of economic security, the press service of the bank reported.

“Bank employees helped law enforcement solve more than 450 crimes and prosecute 388 people who broke the law. The amount of damage avoided amounted to 1.165 billion rubles.

The bank said that the attackers, who tried to seize the customers’ money, often presented the employees of Sberbank branches with fake identity documents, power of attorney, inheritance and executive documents.

“Thanks to employee attention, advanced security measures, innovative technological solutions for monitoring and analyzing suspicious transactions, more than 90% of such attacks are prevented and the rest are revealed as soon as possible. In 2022, courts handed down 487 convictions for people who damaged the bank.”

As Stanislav Kuznetsov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank, noted, together with law enforcement, Sber is successfully fighting illegal encroachments against the bank and its customers.

“This year we achieved a significant crime detection rate in physical security – 99% – and protected 1.4 billion rubles from criminals with financial fraud. “These numbers speak for themselves and prove once again that any crime against the bank will be solved, and the culprits will be caught and punished to the fullest extent of the law.”

In the field of physical security, it was noted that Sber prevented cash theft of 237 million rubles in total, thanks to the instant response of the Sber security service, video analytics systems and multi-level ATM protection system.

In 2022, there were 89 attacks on the bank. Criminals tried to withdraw money from ATMs 78 times. 11 times – robbing a cash register, and 10 of 11 such crimes were solved in hot pursuit.
