Consolidating the dynamics of poverty reduction in Russia next year is a key and backbone for the authorities. At the same time, this year the country can achieve “positive” results in this field, opens TASS the words of President Vladimir Putin.

“Despite the objective challenges of this year, we will achieve positive results in poverty reduction. It is necessary to consolidate this positive trend next year,” Putin said in his speech at the meeting of the Strategic Development and National Projects Council.

A number of factors should contribute to maintaining the positive momentum in the fight against poverty. Among the key ones, he said, were targeted assistance to the most vulnerable segments of the population, as well as annual increases in pensions, above the rate of inflation in the country.

“Simultaneously with pensions, the subsistence minimum, on which many social benefits and payments depend, has been indexed for the second time in a year. In turn, growth has also increased, which directly affects the incomes of approximately 15 million people.”
