A website has appeared on the Internet offering “legal debt relief” with the protection of property under bankruptcy law, to solve “socialbites.ca”. The resource includes the logos of the State Services portal and the Electronic Justice system.
Users are invited to fill out a questionnaire stating their name, phone number, amount and type of debt (loan, microcredit, housing and communal services, alimony). Then the lawyer calls back the clients and indicates the cost of deletion services – 60 thousand rubles.
The Ministry of Digital Development announced to socialbites.ca that there is no service for clearing debts on the portal of State Services. “There is no debt clearing service in the Government Service. The portal has a section where you can get information about the bankruptcy procedure for individuals. This service is provided upon application through the MFC or the Court of Arbitration.”
These are anti-collectors, also known as “borrowers”. They offer services in solving problems related to overdue debts: taking over negotiations with credit institutions, buying citizens’ debts from the bank, helping a person go bankrupt,” said lawyer Jamali Kuliyev.
According to Kuliyev, scammers basically offer the victim to pay for their services and then disappear.
Cybersecurity experts analyzed the site and concluded that it was fraudulent. They told socialbites.ca that the attackers’ aim was to collect personal data and money.
