On 27 November, the State Energy Company of Ukraine (JSC ECU) conducted a test purchase of electricity from Romania. Liga writes about it.
“Ukrainian state energy trader JSC Energy Company (JSC ECU) imported electricity in non-commercial volumes of 1 MW for two hours (at 9:00 and 14:00) from Romania in test mode on November 27, 2022. ),” was said in the press service of the ECU.
According to Liga, JSC ECU acquired the right to import electricity at the auction of the national energy company Ukrenergo on November 24.
The company believes that electricity imports could be an additional tool to stabilize Ukraine’s energy system.
They also explained that test deliveries made it possible to check the technical feasibility of importing electricity from European countries, if necessary.
JSC ECU conducted preliminary tests for electricity imports from Slovakia on 27 October and 19 November this year.
On November 26, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that restrictions on electricity supply remain in 15 regions of the country, including Kyiv.
