The Volga Automobile Plant has granted a patent for the exterior design of the updated Vesta, called Vesta NG. The accompanying document appeared in the open section of the database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property. Note that the patent describes the appearance of only the base sedan of the family, while a cross sedan is also expected (by the way, the official website no longer offers it for the current Vesta), a cross station wagon and a sport sedan version.
The patent identifies the authors of the design of the updated Vesta. These are the former chief designer of the Lada brand Steve Mattin, as well as Drouard Julien Andre Michel, Suslaev Stepan Sergeevich, Markin Vasily Leonidovich, Gubanov Vyacheslav Vladimirovich and Kurbanov Ilya Daudovich. Recall that Steve Mattin was the author of the original Vesta, which came out in 2015.
The updated Vesta (Vesta NG) was produced in early 2022 at the Lada Izhevsk plant, where they also held an exterior presentation to journalists in February, but soon assembly was curtailed. At the moment, Vesta production is moving from Izhevsk to Tolyatti, assembly at the new location should start in March 2023.
In addition to the exterior, Vesta will update the interior and the equipment list – according to the original plan (which it was decided to stick to as much as possible), some of the configurations would include a start button, keyless entry, blind spot monitoring, LED optics, a multimedia system with a vertical “tablet”.
- But the vending machine on Vesta will appear in a year and a half at best.
- “Behind the Wheel” can be seen on RuTube.
So far, only the sedan has been patented. The authors of the design include former Lada chief designer Steve Mattin.
