United Russia State Duma deputy Oleg Morozov proposed changes to the legislation that would allow the confiscation of cars belonging to citizens who left Russia and left their cars at the border after a certain period of time.
“We urgently need to change the law in order to make decisions on the transfer to state ownership of vehicles that are not in demand, for example one month after the owner crosses the border,” Morozov told RIA Novosti. .
He proposed to oblige the owner of the abandoned car to present his rights to him in person, then the car will not be taken away.
According to the parliamentarian, such a measure will legalize the seizure of abandoned cars.
In fact, Deputy Morozov developed the idea of the chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. He said that in Russia they were compiling lists of citizens who left the country, and that one should “think about the fate of the cars left by them at the border”.
