The Evolute i-Joy will be put on the assembly line at the Motorinvest plant in the Lipetsk region in October. This is a modified Chinese car Dongfeng E3. The dimensions are comparable to the well-known Skoda Karoq and Nissan Qashqai crossovers.
Only the engine is not petrol, but electric! We are not used to this yet. Nevertheless, we will evaluate it as a regular crossover.

Acceleration to “hundreds” is explained in 8.9 s. Our measurements gave a more modest result – 10.5 s. Although subjective, the electric car seems faster. Only it is better not to go faster than 100 km/h – otherwise the crossover will start to consume too much energy.
The controls of the i-Joy are vague and need improvement.
But I was happy with the suspension: energy-intensive, elastic and quiet. Only in large potholes does the rear axle speak. But this is easy to remove if you slow down before you hit any serious bumps.
The interior is simply furnished and equipped with no frills. No heated back seat, steering wheel, windshield. The media system is only synced with the phone via Bluetooth. But there is a built-in VCR.
Sufficient power reserve
Claimed miles on a 53 kW . battery.hours – 405 km. Driving in the summer heat with air conditioning at normal speeds showed the Evolute covered about 200 miles between charges. If you move measured, you get 340-350 km. Not bad!
In winter, of course, the power reserve will be less. But when you buy a car, you can order an additional autonomous diesel interior heater. Then the battery does not waste electricity heating passengers.
Charging is a problem
With municipal charging stations in Moscow, Evolute i-Joy is connected without interference. The battery is fully charged from powerful speakers in an hour. But there were problems with gas stations from other networks: the car did not accept a load. Sometimes it helped to disconnect the battery terminal – no traction, just a regular 12 volts under the hood.
As representatives of the brand explained, in some cases it is required to “make friends” with the charging station software and the electric car. Now such work is actively being carried out, and by the time serial Evolutes appear on the street, the owners should no longer have any problems.
Should I take it?
The Evolute i-Joy offered in a single configuration will cost 3.5 million rubles. The discount under the state program is 925 thousand, which reduces the cost of the electric crossover to the current price of the new Hyundai Creta. But to be eligible for such a benefit, you must meet certain criteria.
Curious how the new product will be received? We don’t really like electric cars. However, the attitude towards them is slowly changing: sales are growing, infrastructure is developing. And the Evolute i-Joy will certainly accelerate the transition to electricity. In any case, there is a trend in that direction.
