2023 should be a year of production growth for AvtoVAZ: according to preliminary plans, it is planned to produce about 500 thousand vehicles at two production sites – in Tolyatti and Izhevsk. Samara Review reports this based on its own source at the company. In addition, it has been determined that under favorable conditions the planned volume can be increased.
It is interesting that a quarter of this volume should fall on the Lada Vesta family: the line transferred from Izhevsk to Tolyatti is expected to be made at the new location in the first year of production with a circulation of 120 thousand copies. This figure, the newspaper writes, is confirmed by several subcontractors of AVTOVAZ.
It is worth noting that the assembly line in Izhevsk is less productive than in Togliatti, where Vesta’s production is now being moved. In pre-crisis 2021, Lada dealers sold just under 114,000 Vesta cars. In total, about 433,000 Lada cars were assembled last year at two plants, in Togliatti and Izhevsk. Earlier, at the peak of the pandemic in 2020 – 451 thousand.
In addition to Vesta, the declared production volume for AvtoVAZ is to be provided by the restored Granta, Niva Legend and Niva Travel, as well as Largus, which will return to the assembly line in early 2023. By the way, physically it will be the same line that Vesta will be on – but a little later, in March.
It is clarified that AVTOVAZ is not ready to officially confirm these figures: a representative of the company, Sergey Ilyinsky, said that the production plan for 2023 is not being drawn up until 2023 and that the final breakdown by model will be later.
AvtoVAZ showed performance records in the 2000s, when more than 700 thousand cars were produced annually. According to some estimates, AVTOVAZ is able to produce 850,000 cars per year, if it loads up to three production lines in Tolyatti and one in Izhevsk. In addition, there is a power reserve in the disused Lada West Togliatti factory, formerly GM_AVTOVAZ.
- Earlier, Maxim Sokolov reported that AVTOVAZ would restore almost the entire pre-sanction model line of cars by 2023. Except Lada XRAY.
