During the expedition to the Far East, the editor-in-chief of Komsomolskaya Pravda Vladimir Sungorkin died, the publication’s Telegram channel reported. Vladimir Nikolaevich was 68 years old. According to TASS, citing his own source, the cause of death was a stroke. The purpose of Sungorkin’s next large-scale journey was to collect material for a book about the pioneer of the Far East, Vladimir Arseniev.
Sungorkin started journalism in 1976 – then, in the construction zone of the Baikal-Amur railway, he began to work as his own correspondent for Komsomolskaya Pravda. After working in the publication for nearly 20 years, he became editor-in-chief in 1997. In addition, Vladimir Sungorkin was the general director of CJSC Komsomolskaya Pravda.
He also had a lot to do with the publication of “Behind the Wheel” – these were both professional and purely human, friendly ties. Just a year ago, he took part in our special project dedicated to the flight from Moscow to Nemetskiy Cape. It then turned out to be an excellent trip – however, like everyone else with the participation of Sungorkin … We express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Vladimir Nikolayevich.
