Podolsk police have arrested two thieves, aged 30 and 35, on suspicion of a series of robberies. Both previously sentenced residents of Moscow several times.
The perpetrators rented an SUV, taped the license plates to it and drove through the yards of residential buildings at night in search of cars with expensive tires and wheels.
After finding the “victim”, they removed the wheels using a wheel wrench and a jack, loaded them into the car and disappeared. So they managed to “undress” two cars parked on Obyezdnaya Doroga Street and in Flotsky Proyezd. The owners suffered damage in the amount of 180 thousand rubles.
In the pursuit, the thieves were apprehended near the home of one of them in Moscow.
The officers returned the stolen wheelsets to their rightful owners.
Criminal cases under art. 161 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen for the suspects.
Police have reason to believe that the Moscow “tourists” worked mainly in the Moscow region and may have been involved in similar crimes committed in the cities of Pushkino, Zhukovsky, Chekhov and Ramenskoye. The investigation is underway.
