The Russian carmaker has reached an agreement with the FESCO transport group on intermodal transport from the countries of the Asia-Pacific region (APR) through the port of Vladivostok to the city of Tolyatti.
Intermodal transport is when goods are carried successively by two or more modes of transport in the same loading unit (or vehicle) without reloading at the time of a change of transport.
The cooperation agreement was signed by Andrey Severilov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of FESCO, and Maxim Sokolov, Chairman of AvtoVAZ
For example, a container with parts for brand new Lada cars, mounted on a conveyor belt in Tolyatti, can be loaded in one country, cross several borders and only unloaded at the last point.
And from which countries do the deliveries come?
The companies have also agreed to develop import transport from China to Togliatti inland – using regular FESCO rail services. In addition, the FESCO Group and AVTOVAZ plan to work out the problems of organizing intermodal logistics solutions from India and Turkey, and to develop cooperation on rail transport from European countries,” the FESCO press service said in a statement. .
The parties intend to leverage FESCO’s logistics capabilities – a developed network of maritime and rail services, a container fleet, as well as port and terminal infrastructure
The moment is quite unequivocal: those components that cannot be produced by companies in Russia are supplied from China, India, Turkey and European countries. Perhaps the scarcest position in the components for assembly at AVTOVAZ is now the ABS systems – before they were produced by the Bosch plant in Samara, but the company stopped its activities in Russia.
- AvtoVAZ previously announced that they can only return to the production of cars with ABS in 2023.
