The State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill on mandatory weighing of trucks at checkpoints at the request of inspectors. The Ministry of Transport reported the situation to the institution “Hit the primer”.
“Heavy truck drivers will have to undergo weight and size checks. “The Ministry of Transport has prepared a draft law regarding this,” he said.
If truck drivers can now avoid weighing cargo because weighing is not mandatory, this will become impossible after the possible entry into force of the law on March 1, 2025.
The Ministry of Transport noted that there is now a practice of unloading cargo in the control area before weighing, which means circumventing the requirements.
“The proposed mechanism will increase the safety and security of the roads,” the ministry emphasized.
In the regions of the Russian Federation there are various regimes regulating the permissible weight of trucks on highways. These rules become stricter in the spring when the roads dry out. The average permissible load is 6 tonnes on a single axle, 5 tonnes on a tandem axle and 4 tonnes on an adjustable axle. Therefore, the maximum permissible weight of a truck is, as a rule, 12 tons, but in the Kaliningrad region it is possible to transport trucks weighing up to 14.5 tons.
Formerly Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation recommended Prohibit drivers from using tablets while driving.
