The State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation recommended that the House of Representatives adopt the bill on penalties for dangerous driving in the first reading. In this regard, reports TASS.
“To recommend the State Duma to adopt the draft federal law No. 644297-8 “On Amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation” in the first reading. The committee’s decision proposes to the State Duma Council to include this draft law in the draft procedure for the work of the State Duma on October 1, 2024 for consideration in the first reading,” the committee said.
Before that reportedThe State Duma will reportedly consider a bill in the fall that would set penalties for dangerous driving. If passed, it would come into force in 2025. Reckless driving includes failing to yield to a vehicle with the right of way, changing lanes when the lanes are full in heavy traffic, failing to maintain a safe following distance and failing to clear lanes.
The penalty for the first violation will be from three to five thousand rubles. Repeated violations may result in deprivation of rights for one to three months. According to the authors of the initiative, up to 80% of traffic accidents occur due to aggressive driving.
