The Central Bank of Russia has announced plans to increase compulsory motor vehicle liability insurance rates for some drivers. reported the regulator’s press service.
The Central Bank of Russia plans to expand the limits of the tariff corridor of compulsory motor liability insurance by 11.57% in both directions for public transport (trolleybuses, trams, buses carrying out regular passenger transport) and by 20% for motorcycles and trucks. At the same time, MTPL rates for ordinary drivers will also remain unchanged.
The Central Bank noted that motorcyclists today pay less for the policy than others, but the amount of damage in an accident caused by their fault is comparable to losses from passenger cars. Moreover, in two years this figure has increased by 32%. Trucks are more likely to cause an accident than other road users, with a maximum amount of 400 thousand rubles. They receive such payments twice as often as others.
