“It’s important to keep a certain line here. If a passenger starts insulting, threatening or emotionally hurting, this will not result in a constructive dialogue. The task is to create a conversation from an adult’s perspective. What does an adult do? He can calmly explain what’s bothering him, without getting emotional or behaving inappropriately,” he said.
According to Fomin, if a passenger starts a conversation from the perspective of an adult, the driver is likely to respond in the same way. The psychotherapist also advised passengers to calmly convey their concerns to taxi drivers, admitting, for example, that they feel unsafe due to high speed or dangerous driving style. Fomin emphasized that in such a conversation it is important to explain to the driver what specific mistake he made during the trip.
“Conversing with a taxi driver from an adult position increases your chances of reaching an agreement,” the expert concluded.
