The proposal to ban people over 70 from driving has not yet been implemented. In this respect reports RIA Novosti cites Russian Deputy Minister of Health Alexey Kuznetsov.
“The proposal does not seem to have worked – a person can drive if his state of health allows him to do so safely for himself and other road users, this condition is evaluated by a special medical commission, all requirements are clearly regulated,” Kuznetsov explained.
Previously at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation contacted Members of the Veterans of Russia movement with a proposal to ban people over 70 from driving.
The organization believes that as people get older, their hearing and vision often deteriorate and their reactions slow down, which can lead to increased danger on the road. That’s why older drivers must undergo extraordinary, more stringent medical examinations. Drivers over a certain age, if they successfully pass the medical examination, will be given a driver’s license for a shorter period (for example, five years or less), rather than the usual 10 years.
Participants in the movement suggested that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation issue licenses only to people aged 18 to 70 years.
Previously reportedIt has been proposed to create a special unit to monitor scooter drivers in Russia.
