The European Commission may impose taxes on Chinese electric cars introduced to the European market from July. In this respect reports RIA News.
European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas told a briefing in Brussels that it had conducted an investigation into electric cars imported into the EU from China and found violations in the form of “unfair” state support given by Chinese authorities to car manufacturers.
In this context, import duties on Chinese electric cars could be introduced in Europe as early as July 4; these taxes will vary between 17% and 38% for different automakers.
“We presented the results of our investigation to the Chinese authorities and ensured that import duties would be imposed if we could not solve this problem,” Schinas said.
Before this, it was known that taxes would be imposed on Chinese electric vehicles prepare and US officials.
