Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced the need to localize the production of parts during the presentation of Volga cars in Nizhny Novgorod. In this respect reports RIA News. He suggested replacing the Chinese-made steering wheel with a domestic one.
“Where was your steering wheel made, Chinese? I wish the steering wheel was Russian. It is not as difficult as localizing the box and all the other elements,” the head of government said.
Introduction of Volga cars took place May 21, 2024 at the exhibition “Digital Industry of Industrial Russia” (CIPR-2024) in Nizhny Novgorod. A new series of Volga cars, which will be produced under this brand for the first time, has been introduced.

Cars will be offered in three classes: Volga C40 – D-class sedan, Volga K30 – C-class crossover, Volga K40 – D-class crossover. All cars will be equipped with a gasoline engine producing 188 hp. and seven-speed automatic transmission. Production of cars will start in 2024.
Before that, at the Gorky Automobile Plant, next to the workshop where Volkswagen cars were previously assembled perceived Changan Raeton Plus sedan, which could be a revived Volga car.
Raeton Plus is the only model that Changan will introduce to the Russian market in 2023. Workers use these tools for training in assembly operations. The workshops where Volkswagen and Skoda are assembled until 2022 are kept in working order.
