Protesting Warsaw taxi drivers are trying to block the city center due to low fares. In this respect reports RIA News.
“Prices for fuel, cars and spare parts are constantly increasing, and for 22 years the usual tariff has been three zlotys (about $0.75) per 1 km,” said one of the protesters.
It was recorded that taxi drivers demonstrated during rush hour near Dmowski Square in the center of Warsaw. Protesters began crossing the street along the crosswalk, where there would always be people in the crossing. For this reason, the passage of cars and buses was blocked. There were traffic problems, especially on the central street of Emilia Plater.
Demonstrators recalled that authorities recently rejected a proposal by the taxi drivers’ union to increase the standard fare to six zlotys (about $1.5) per 1 km.
