The company announced that the problems were caused by the cars’ electrical architecture not complying with new European cyber security standards. At the same time, improving the models will cost the manufacturer about half of the budget for creating a new car, so this solution will not be financially feasible.
It is stated that Porsche has previously decided to give up sales of the Macan gasoline crossover model in Europe. The publication also reminded that the fourth generation Boxster and Cayman are a fairly old product and were launched in 2016 under the internal codename “982”. At the same time, the first generation Macan was released even earlier, in 2014. The departure of these models from the EU will not greatly affect the manufacturer’s profits, but the latter were in high demand.
