In 2023, the number of cars on Moscow roads decreased by 4%, that is, by 130 thousand units per day. In this respect reports “Kommersant”, referring to the mayor’s office of the capital.
Authorities attribute this trend to the growing popularity of urban transport: drivers are increasingly leaving their vehicles at home. Meanwhile, Anton Shaparin, vice president of the National Automobile Association, said running the car has become expensive. Moreover, according to him, the decrease in traffic in the city is a natural consequence of the introduction of paid parking and other restrictive measures.
Before that, in the capital’s data center statedAn increase in car travel is expected on December 22, on New Year’s Eve: an average of about 2.9 million cars will move through the city during the day, which is 2% more than at the beginning of December. Density is expected to increase for the second time. This will take place between December 26-27. An additional 70-80 thousand vehicles will hit the roads these days. Activities will decrease on December 30 and 31, and on January 1 the number of cars on the capital’s roads will be 1.26 million.
