AvtoVAZ is developing Niva and Vesta with a new power plant 19:20

AvtoVAZ is developing prototypes of the Niva SUV and Vesta sedan with electric powertrains. In this respect reports TASS reported, citing company president Maxim Sokolov.

“We assume that we will develop electric propulsion. We have plans and, moreover, prototypes of these cars already exist, the agency quoted Sokolov as saying. these are currently being tested at our test site in Tolyatti; both the electric Niva and the future electric Vesta.

The head of the company explained that the production of cars with a power plant was considered necessary, but this was not the main thing, since cars with internal combustion engines were more familiar to Russian buyers. In addition, the head of AvtoVAZ noted that the market for cars with internal combustion engines is larger in volume.

At the AvtoVAZ production plant in Izhevsk started Production of the pilot batch of the electric Lada e-Largus. The first batch of 30 such machines is for testing and certification purposes. Mass production of Lada Largus in Izhevsk is planned to start in May 2024, including gasoline engines.
