Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) will continue to install airbags in its cars at the beginning of 2025. Alexey Spirin, general director of the enterprise, spoke about this: transmits TASS.
“Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant will return airbags to cars. This is planned to happen at the beginning of 2025,” Spirin said.
UAZ general director noted that in the near future the production of passive safety systems for cars will be created on the territory of the UAZ industrial park. How said Russian automaker Sollers (owner of UAZ) will localize the production of airbags, steering columns, steering wheels and seat belts in the Ulyanovsk region in the first quarter of 2025, said Governor of the Ulyanovsk region Alexey Russkikh. Investments in the project will be 1.5 billion rubles.
UAZ stopped installing airbags in cars in 2022 due to the shortage of necessary components due to sanctions.
Previously UAZ modernized “Patriot”, “Pickup” and “Profi” models.
