Between January and August 2023, second-hand pickup truck sales increased by 15% in Russia. Pickup trucks of Japanese brands occupy half of the market for second-hand cars with this type of body in Russia, reports “Autostat Information”.
30.3 thousand pickup trucks have changed owners in Russia since the beginning of the year. The share of Japanese brands in the secondary market remained at last year’s level (50%), but the number of cars sold increased by 15%, reaching 15.3 thousand cars. Toyota and Mitsubishi are the two leaders in this segment, while Nissan ranks fifth after the domestic UAZ and Izh.
In the secondary market, American pickup trucks show more significant dynamics: the number of vehicles sold increased by almost 39% to 2.6 thousand units. The Ram brand showed the highest growth.
The share of “Americans” in the market structure increased from 7.1% to 8.5%, and the share of pickup trucks used by Chinese increased from 4.7% to 5.1%. In total, more than 1.5 thousand cars were sold in Russia from January to August.
New Chinese pickup truck sales increased 5.3 times to 4.7 thousand vehicles in the same period. Their market share was 45% compared to 20% the previous year.
Previously, the weighted average price of a new car in Russia exceeded 3 million rubles.
