A car climate control system that has not been serviced before the summer may not be able to cope with the increased amount of road dust that accumulates in the air conditioning system due to humidity. Alexey Ruzanov, technical director of the Fit Service international network of automobile services, announced this in an interview with socialbites.ca.
“It is best to diagnose the air conditioning system before summer. In addition to cleaning the evaporator, the cabin filter must also be changed. If this is not done, the dust entering a humid environment will begin to smell, and then only dismantling and mechanical cleaning of the air conditioner will help get rid of the unpleasant smell, ”warned Ruzanov.
According to him, clogging of the air conditioner with dust can lead to the breakdown of the system, the main symptoms of which are the noise that occurs when the air conditioner is turned on and poor airflow into the cabin.
“When cold air stops blowing into the passenger compartment or the flow weakens, these are the main signs of an air conditioning malfunction. Possible malfunction of the climate system can be indicated by sounds and clicks under the hood when turned on. In this case, you need to check the compressor clutch, the compressor itself and the drive belt. If you delay visiting a service station, the repair will be expensive, ”said the expert.
According to the expert, an unpleasant odor when turned on may also indicate a malfunction of the air conditioner. You will need to clean the evaporator to fix the problem. Bacteria develop in it, which causes the appearance of various “flavors”.
Previously, the therapist of the Medsi clinic Daria Bayutina said “Gazeta.ru” that improper use of air conditioning in a car can lead to diseases such as legionellosis and tonsillitis.
