The Japanese company Toyota plans to stop selling the Camry sedan in the domestic market. For the automaker, it turned out to be unprofitable in the current circumstances – Japan accounts for only 1% of Camry’s global sales.
Since 1980, 1.3 million Camry cars of different generations have been sold in the Land of the Rising Sun. But in 2022, only 6,000 sedans were sold in the local market. At the same time, more than 600 thousand copies were sold in other countries.
Now Camry is produced exclusively for export. This sedan is sold in more than 100 countries and is especially popular in the US.
Production of Toyota Camry is organized in China, USA and Japan. Until March 2022, it was also assembled in Russia, at a factory in St. Petersburg. Now Camry is entering the Russian market from China under the parallel import arrangement.
