The only weak point of the engine is the crankshaft seals. Lack of oil should not be allowed – you should always check the level of all fluids and replace the timing belt in time (if it breaks, the pistons meet the valves).
The range of Drive-E engines, which includes this engine, also includes a two-liter unit – B4204T. It can also be found on the XC60 and XC90 crossovers. This engine is just as reliable as a 1.5 liter engine.
There are many on the secondary market Volvo with these engines. There are cases with distances far exceeding 200,000 km. But you should not be afraid to buy them (after diagnosis, of course): there are no cases of premature death of Drive-E engines.
Incidentally, Volvo still equips its cars with Drive-E engines and has no plans to replace these proven engines.
There are other crossovers with very resourceful engines.
