socialbites.ca learned that on the websites of Russian classified ads there are announcements about the delivery of automotive parts from Europe and the United States, bypassing the sanctions imposed on Russia. The intermediaries promise to help with the procurement of necessary parts from foreign online shops and their import to Russia via Turkey, Armenia, the Baltic states and Kazakhstan.
“Spare parts can be brought in from the US, but undocumented – that is, for personal use, not for sale. Without specifications, technical documentation,” said the manager of one of these firms from St. Petersburg. “Shipping from the USA to Finland will take about 10 days by air, 20 days by sea.”
According to the interlocutor, it will take another two weeks for the parts to be delivered to Russia. Shipping from Finland to Russia will cost 7 euros per 1 kg of cargo, for shipping from the USA to Europe, variable tariffs apply, which vary depending on the specifics of the order. For a fee, shipping of parts by transport companies throughout Russia is negotiated.
“If you do not have the opportunity to pay for the goods directly, we can pay through us (customs document – socialbites.ca) for a commission of 12-16% of the invoice value. In the contract we specify the terms of delivery.
But unfortunately we have a 100% down payment,” said the manager.
A representative of another company that offers delivery of goods to Russia from online stores in Germany told a socialbites.ca correspondent that recently there has been a demand for spare parts in addition to clothing and household goods.
“We’ve been dealing with clothing for 20 years, but now we’re in a situation where we carry everything because we have a working supply channel.
Both today and yesterday, customers ordered motorcycle parts. They ordered Continental tires for the car,” he said. – If the seller is a legal person, we will bring this thing to more than 23% of the German price. Plus, 6 euros per kilogram of weight, except for the first one.
According to him, the goods were delivered through Turkey and in case of purchasing automotive electronics, problems may arise at German customs. Delivery time – 2-3 weeks, weight limit – 30 kg. In the case of larger items, delivery can be arranged via the Baltic states, as indicated by the agent.
“In theory, there should be no complaints about an ordinary piece of iron. If it is some kind of electronics, we will redirect it to the Baltics,” he promised.
Another intermediary, which provides services for the import of goods to Russia via Armenia, told socialbites.ca that it is possible to deliver original spare parts from Europe, including in large volumes, from a container.
“You give a link to what kind of product and how much you need. We will then contact you and discuss the quantities. We usually receive 7-10% of the cost of the goods, – explains the ordering scheme, – At least we can deliver by land, at least by air. Customs clearance – in Yerevan.
Experts warn that operations where an intermediary requires an advance payment can turn into significant risks for the buyer.
“Paying an advance on goods is as risky as possible in the current circumstances. You must understand that anything related to circumvention of sanctions legislation is punishable,
Boris Bashilov, senior partner at law firm Bashilov, Noskov and Partners, explains to socialbites.ca. “You should understand that no terms or clauses in the contract will protect you if the other party has not been verified.”
The lawyer recalls that during Internet trading, even in Russia, there were many cases when unscrupulous sellers who received money disappeared without fulfilling their obligations.
“In such cases, you can only trust reliable companies – and at the same time be prepared for a possible loss of money,” Anton Shaparin, vice president of the National Automobile Association, said in an interview with socialbites.ca. – In this case, parallel import is preferred. This is not an ideal solution because there are risks of counterfeiting, but it has always existed in our market.”
Borders with some neighboring countries, including Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, were and remain easily permeable, so there are conditions for the uncontrolled import of various goods, he concludes.
