The Tor-M2 short-range anti-aircraft missile system has been improved. During the modernization, the experience of combat use in the zone of a special military operation was taken into account.
The specialists of the Izhevsk electromechanical plant “Kupol” were engaged in refinement.
As a result, the efficiency of the complex was significantly increased. Today it easily intercepts US MLRS munitions HIMARS.
The upgrade was made after the fighters collected all the necessary data for this. The fact is that before the start of the SVO, the complex did not meet these kinds of goals. Now he’s ready to hit them.
The complex uses new 9M338K missiles, the stock of which has been increased from 8 to 16, which can operate in full automatic mode, track up to 40 targets and hit four at the same time.
Those goals for which we began to work, which we had not achieved before, there was no opportunity to work out – these are known HIMARS. We’ve faced them, we can fight them. <...> Certain improvements have been made, now work is being done more efficiently on these goals, ”said Ilya Rykov, deputy chief designer for the repair and modernization of the dome, on the Zvezda TV channel broadcast.
The Tor air defense system entered service in 1986 and has since undergone three major upgrades and a number of updates. The work to improve the complex does not stop today, as it has enormous potential.
The task of the complex is to cover strategic objects from cruise missiles, multiple missile launchers, as well as loitering munitions and drones.
