In the ranking of global car sales in 2022, there were interesting permutations. If we add up the sales volumes in the markets of 78 countries of the world and compare the figure with the figures for 2021, the sales volume of new cars fell by 2% to 78.49 million units.
There were some interesting changes to the top ten. The first and second places in the ranking are taken by China and the United States respectively. Third place was taken by India. The explosive growth in demand (by 24%!) was due to a large number of new and interesting models at very attractive prices.
This is by far the most surprising change in the top 10. Moreover, India came in third place for the first time in history. Japan has usually been the No. 3 market, mainly due to the huge demand for cheap kei cars. However, the Japanese market has stopped growing for a long time.
In Brazil, demand for new cars fell by 1%, and this slight decline allowed the market to overtake the British and French markets, where sales fell by 5% and 10% respectively.
Most markets in Southeast Asia rose. For example, Indonesia has overtaken Spain to become the 14th largest market. All thanks to the rise of our own electric vehicles, such as the Wuling Air EV.
