AVTOVAZ will start production in the second half of 2023 in St. Petersburg, at the former Nissan plant, with an SKD assembly of Chinese cars under its own brand (for example, Moskvich), but then it is planned to switch to full cycle production.
“We need serious engineering at the very least. Therefore, we will gradually begin to move to localization… From 2024 to SKD, and in 2025 and 2026 to CKD,” – said the president of the company Maxim Sokolov.
Remember that CKD is a localised, small-scale assembly, when the car arrives at the company completely disassembled. This usually includes welding and painting as well.
Earlier, AVTOVAZ reported that the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg will produce a new lineup of Lada, which will be higher class than the existing cars.
