A video has appeared on the Internet of a car driving down the street in Xiangxiang, China, and there is a loud explosion.
The roof literally blew off the car. Pieces of the crossover were scattered across the street. But the most surprising thing about this emergency is not that.
It appears the driver escaped unharmed after the explosion, the city’s emergency agency said. American internet users thought we were talking about an electric car in which the battery may have exploded.
“One of the hallmarks of ‘green’ cars was self-immolation in a fire, trapping drivers with electric door tricks, now done in the style of an epic explosion,” a commenter said ironically under the video.
However, Chinese media reported that the gas bottle most likely exploded when the driver lit a cigarette.
