How to bring a car from Kazakhstan today

Here, for example, Mitsubishi L200 for 26,436,500 tenge. For ours, this is about 3.5 million rubles. A completely similar car in the Invite + configuration in the Russian car dealership costs 4.6 million rubles. There is something to think about.

Kazakhstan is a member of the EAEU Customs Union. This means that goods cleared into this country can be used without additional customs payments in all countries of the Customs Union. That is, you can buy a car in Kazakhstan, transport it to Russia, register it and drive it here.

Additional costs

Dangling across the border with a lot of money is alarming. And the transfer of rubles to Kazakhstan requires conversion into tenge, it costs an average of 2%. To transfer money with a minimum commission, you need to open a bank account in Kazakhstan, for this you need a local IIN, and at the bank branch you need a foreign passport (do you have one?) . A large amount, despite being a transfer between your accounts, may fall under suspicion of currency control – you may need to prove you are not involved in money laundering and are not evading taxes. Opening a bank account in another country also requires you to notify the Russian state, otherwise you will be fined.

And when buying, you have to pay a recycling fee, get an SBKTS or OTTS, ERU-GLONASS does not yet need to be installed (from February 1, 2023, the installation of this device will be mandatory again), issue an EPTS and walk to customs. Already ran to buy a plane ticket? Wait, there are nuances.

Disadvantages of buying a car in Kazakhstan

a. Almost all car manufacturers have made changes to dealer agreements, according to which the sale of cars is possible only for use on the territory of Kazakhstan. This means that a car in the cabin is simply not sold to a Russian citizen. Of course, in Kazakhstan you can get a residence permit, but this is a strange scheme for buying a car.

2. You lose the warranty on the car – as soon as Russian numbers appear on it. These conditions are stated directly in the sales contract, which few people read, but it is written in black and white that the warranty obligations apply to the purchased car only if the car is operated on the territory of Kazakhstan. In the event of a change of jurisdiction, the manufacturer does not bear any responsibility for the condition of the car.

3. Since cars are sold to citizens of Kazakhstan or people with a residence permit, you need to find an intermediary who will buy a car for your money, register it for himself, and then remove it from the register by filling out a sales contract with you.

Finding such a person in Kazakhstan is not difficult, but if you do not have relatives or reliable old friends there, you can get into an unpleasant situation. Often a debtor, a person with a debt, an overdue loan or other obligations, acts as an intermediary ready to help. He buys a car with your money, puts it on paper – and suddenly it turns out that the car (as movable property) has been seized due to the existing debt, it cannot be removed from the register until the debt is paid. And the debt runs into the millions.

In order not to get into such a situation, the intermediary must be checked in the Unified Register of Debtors of Kazakhstan, and verification requires IIN (Individual Identification Number) and full name. And if the intermediary is married, the notarial consent of the spouse or spouse is required, which must also verify whether they are debtors and whether they are registered in the relevant register .

To buy or not to buy a car in Kazakhstan?

The whole procedure for buying a car in Kazakhstan, from a car dealer to a car transporter, will cost you about 100,000 rubles. Deviations are possible to a large extent.

You can find out the price of cars from Kazakhstan that have already been imported into Russia. A typical margin for ferrymen is about 400 thousand rubles. Look only at those cars that have already been approved and registered in Russia. This means that all the risks of unscrupulous intermediaries no longer affect you.

If you are offered a car with transit numbers, do not agree, because you do not know for yourself the person who bought the car in Kazakhstan. If he is a seasoned debtor, do not register the car, as the electronic title is valid in all countries of the EAEU. As a result, you cannot use the car and a lawsuit can take years.

Without ties, public order cannot be guaranteed, medical care cannot be provided to those who need it.

“Behind the wheel” together with the Popular Front began to raise money that will be used to purchase tires for cars of the People’s Police and operational services of the LPR and DPR: ambulances, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, vehicles delivering humanitarian aid to residents delivery of Donbass and army equipment.
