The BAIC BJ60 looks like a cross between a jeep and a car, and under the hood is a 2-liter turbo petrol engine combined with a mild hybrid system (48V belt starter alternator). The power of such an installation reaches 267 horsepower.
In China, the BAIC SUV will compete with the similarly sized Tank 500.
BJ60 dimensions: length – 5020 mm, width – 1925 mm, height – 1955 mm, wheelbase – 2820 mm. As you can see, it is slightly longer than the Toyota Land Cruiser 300, although the wheelbase of the latter is still longer (2850 mm).
In BAIC’s own brand line, the BJ60 outperforms the BJ80, but is smaller than the BJ90, which is based on the previous generation Mercedes-Benz GLS.
In the BJ60 you will find elements from several brands at the same time. The illuminated grille that merges with the LED headlights is reminiscent of a Jeep, the window line is clearly inspired by the Toyota Land Cruiser and the taillights are reminiscent of the Ford Explorer.
The BJ60 has three rows of seats upholstered in white perforated leather, while the SUV will also be available in a five-seat version. Inside is a digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch freestanding infotainment touchscreen. The car has a head-up display, a premium audio system, atmospheric lighting, heated seats and a panoramic roof.
BAIC says the BJ60’s hybrid powertrain will offer 1,000 miles of range and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 6 seconds.
The SUV is equipped with four-wheel drive, differential lock and a variety of off-road oriented systems that enhance its capabilities.
The prices in the Middle Kingdom are already known: the BAIC BJ60 has five trim levels at prices ranging from 239,800 (2,031,106 rubles) to 285,800 yuan (2,420,726 rubles). This is a bit more than they charge for the Haval H9.
The BJ60 would also appeal to Russian off-road enthusiasts. In addition, the brand may appear on the Russian market.
