A drowsy driver is much more at risk of getting into an accident. According to the head of the MEDSI Somnology Center, Dr. Tatyana Surnenkova, the main signs that a person has not had enough sleep are constant yawning and frequent blinking.
“A person in a state of drowsiness begins to yawn, nod, his eyelids droop involuntarily, he often tries to blink, rubs his eyes, cannot remember part of the way. Accordingly, while driving, he may involuntarily pull to the side of the road or the oncoming lane or fail to notice another car with a right of way advantage, which will cause an accident, ”the doctor explained.
She advises drivers to get enough sleep. Less than five hours of sleep leads to a weakening of nervous system functionality, including passive and active attention, as well as response. This will be especially pronounced during lunch and early morning hours.
