Penalty for driving under the influence more severe

According to the traffic police, every tenth accident in our country is the fault of a drunk driver.

Lawmakers have long called for tougher penalties for drunk drivers.

The Duma is today considering legislative changes.

In particular, it is proposed to prevent drivers who are caught drink-driving without a license from taking entitlement exams until the suspension period has expired. This also includes minors who do not yet have a driver’s license, but who have already been caught driving under the influence.

They also want to prohibit persons who have been denied the right to engage in driving activities by the court before the withdrawal period has expired.
