Dealers calculate market crash in 2022

The shortage of cars at car dealerships will cause car sales to fall by 50-70% by the end of the year, Prime reports citing Avtospetstsentr. A similar forecast is given by Avtodom – they expect sales to fall by 58-65% compared to last year, to 600,000 cars.

However, other experts say it is now impossible to calculate the decline because parallel imports affect the statistics and it is not yet possible to estimate its magnitude.

But even now we can say with confidence that we will continue to see a shortage of cars and a drop in sales until the end of the year.

The Russian Automobile Dealers Association predicts that the market will shrink 2.5 times this year compared to last year.

Since December last year, the Association of European Businesses has not made any predictions about the volume of the Russian market.

After that, a growth of 3.3% was expected and a result of 1.7 million cars sold. However, much has changed since then and it is already clear that even half of this value cannot be reached.

Today’s reality is as follows: for 10 months of this year, sales amounted to 502.5 thousand cars (-60.8% compared to the same period last year).
