The bodies of the passenger car Lada Granta are welded on a robotic line, which provides the required accuracy (down to 0.1 mm) while keeping the process high, according to the YouTube channel “At the Factory”, which published a video from the production.
The source says the line where Kuka robots are used isn’t just automated — it’s almost completely autonomous. Robots work precisely, in strict accordance with the coordinate grid of the car, they weld both arc and spot welds. At the same time, according to the factory, they can be easily reconfigured for welding the body of another model by writing a new program.
Recall that Lada Granta is the cheapest and most popular car on the Russian market: but according to the AEB, sales in October amounted to more than a quarter of the total car market.
