Question from the forum “Behind the wheel” – we answer them from time to time:
– How is charging performed during a Formula E electric car race?
— This procedure is not performed during Formula E championships.
For the first four seasons (until 2019), the driver came to the pits and switched to another fully charged car.
Then a more powerful traction battery was introduced – 54 kWh instead of 28 kWh. There was a risk that in some situations she would also not make it through the scheduled 48-60 minutes of the race. Therefore, they simply reduced the duration of the race to 45 minutes.
