Every driver knows how difficult it can be to spot a pedestrian at night, especially in dark clothing without reflectors. Road builders are constantly trying to “lighten” pedestrians, and now another experiment is taking place in Moscow’s Strogino district.
Here they decided to illuminate the “zebra” not from above, but from the side, and instead of ordinary lampposts they installed low cylindrical structures with built-in lamps that specifically illuminate the transition.
Lights are installed at a certain angle so as not to shine directly into the eyes of pedestrians. Sources illuminate quite a significant distance at the road ramps so that the driver will see pedestrians ahead of time.
Local residents note that the wells shine very brightly, it is simply unrealistic not to notice a pedestrian. However, they still dazzle people of short stature and children. Moreover, it seems that these llamas will become easy prey for vandals, and it is not without reason that they are plastered with warnings about the operation of video cameras.
It will depend on the test results whether such lighting will be implemented throughout Moscow and then in Russia.
