News confirms that the Wey 80 hybrid minivan has entered the Russian market, according to the press service of Great Wall Motor. Local dealers have already begun taking pre-orders, signaling strong interest in this new family vehicle. The launch also marks Wey’s push into a segment that is particularly popular with families and multi-seat arrangements, underscoring the brand’s intent to broaden its footprint in the Russian automotive scene.

Sellers have already opened orders for two trim levels. The six-seat Business Lounge is priced at 8.6 million rubles, while the seven-seat Premium is listed at 7.3 million rubles. The Business Lounge measures 5045 x 1960 x 1900 mm, with a wheelbase of 3085 mm. The Premium version is larger, at 5405 x 1960 x 1890 mm, and rides on a 3275 mm wheelbase. These dimensions translate into a spacious interior with generous shoulder room and a long wheelbase that should improve ride comfort during long trips, making it an attractive option for families and frequent travelers in Russia’s market context.

The Wey 80 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine producing 152 horsepower, paired with two electric motors rated at 95 horsepower each. The vehicle offers a blend of performance and efficiency through its hybrid setup, aimed at delivering smooth acceleration and better fuel economy in city driving as well as highway cruising. In addition to performance, the model comes with amenities such as seats with a “zero gravity” function, a “winter” package, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 14.6-inch multimedia touchscreen, along with other contemporary creature comforts that modern buyers expect from a high-end family van.

This minivan marks Wey’s first entry in this segment on the Russian market, signaling a strategic expansion for the brand into a space dominated by family-oriented MPVs and multi-seat configurations. It reflects Wey’s attempt to offer a modern, technology-forward vehicle that can compete on interior space, comfort, and connectivity while meeting the practical needs of Russian drivers and their families.

Earlier, Great Wall Motor confirmed plans to introduce two Wey models in Russia. One of them is the Wey 07 crossover, which bears similarities to the Lixang L9 and has attracted interest among Russian buyers. Official service and warranty coverage will accompany the new model, giving buyers reassurance in a market where aftersales support is a key purchase driver. The Wey 07 is described as a parallel crossover, with the internal combustion engine connected to the drivetrain in a way that aligns with contemporary hybrid architectures. Reports place its powerplant in the 400–500 hp range, a figure presented to illustrate the performance potential of the model within Wey’s lineup as it seeks to broaden its appeal in Russia.

Earlier, a new Chery crossover appeared in Russian dealerships, signaling ongoing expansion by Chinese brands in the market. This broader movement by Wey and Chery underscores a shifting competitive landscape in Russia, where buyers increasingly look for stylish, tech-rich, practical crossover and multi-seat options from Chinese automakers.
