Three Lada Model Generations Receive Design and Engineering Updates
Three families of VAZ cars have just seen point upgrades in design and engineering. The compact Granta, the versatile Largus, and both SUVs in the line, Niva Legend and Niva Travel, have all undergone notable changes. An information letter from AVTOVAZ indicates that the front seat sled in the Granta has gained a stroke limiter this July, and the fuel hose damper has been revised to improve reliability and ride quality.
For the Largus, the focus was on the ABS system. The bracket securing the hydraulic unit has been redesigned, enhancing rigidity and stability under varying loads. A new supplier, Trinova, now provides the ABS components for Largus. A limited batch of around 1800 cars from the factory will come equipped with this updated ABS. Market observers expect AVTOVAZ to maintain a steady cadence of station wagons and vans in production, with a renewal phase aligning with factory scheduling in early 2023.
In the SUV segment, both Niva Legend and Niva Travel get a smoother ride thanks to an updated intermediate cardan shaft. The update introduces an elastic coupling made from a new material, reducing vibrations that travelers feel during rough road conditions. Early reports suggest that Niva Travel, which recently rejoined the production line, is planned to reach dealers by late August.
- Meanwhile, the refreshed Lada Granta with its renewed look is already present in showrooms.
