Spare Parts Shortages Shape OSAGO Repairs and Market Stabilization

Amid ongoing spare parts shortages, insurance providers are stepping in to ease OSAGO repair requirements for vehicles. They are requesting permission to use pre-owned parts as a temporary measure. This approach is framed as time-limited and subject to rigorous quality control, with used components intended solely for exterior body repair rather than critical systems.

These measures have the backing of insurers and the Russian Union of Motorcycle Insurers (RSA), which advocates extending repair timelines to help stabilize the market.

“In support of the PCA, the initiative already includes a temporary extension of OSAGO repair deadlines to 60 days during the market stabilization period. The policy also acknowledges that delivery times for car parts may lengthen significantly,” stated Evgeny Ufimtsev, head of the RSA.
