Governor Oleg Kozhemyako announced that a fresh automobile assembly line, with the involvement of Chinese partners, will begin operations at the Sollers plant in Vladivostok. This update comes through TASS reporting. The move fits into a broader push to revitalize regional industry and expand manufacturing capabilities in the Far East.
He emphasized that large-scale industrial projects are driving growth in the region, citing the Nakhodka Mineral Fertilizer Plant and the Primorsky Metallurgical Plant as examples. These initiatives are expected to generate thousands of new jobs and boost budgetary revenue. In this context, car production is being restored, and plans include commissioning a new production line this year at the Vladivostok-based Sollers facility in partnership with the Chinese collaborators.
Earlier remarks from Kozhemyako indicated that production at the Primorye Sollers plant is slated to resume in August. The joint venture between Sollers and Mazda has operated at a Vladivostok site since 2011, producing popular models such as the CX-5 and CX-9 crossovers, along with the Mazda 6 sedan. Officials noted ongoing discussions about expanding output to mid-range crossovers at the same facility, potentially replacing certain Mazda models as the lineup evolves.
There have also been reports about Sollers creating a multi-brand industrial center dedicated to frame production for commercial vehicles at the UAZ plant in Ulyanovsk, signaling a broader strategic expansion across different sectors and regions. The sequence of announcements highlights a concerted effort to diversify manufacturing capabilities and stimulate regional economies through joint ventures and new production lines. (TASS attribution)
