Experts at the analytics agency Avtostat analyze how popular crossovers in the Russian market shifted in price from January to May 2022. The findings show meaningful moves across the top models and demonstrate how demand and supply dynamics influence sticker prices during the first half of the year.
The Hyundai Creta, which has been the best-selling crossover in Russia, saw a price increase of 43 percent through the January–May period. The current asking price for this model sits around 1,859,000 rubles. The Renault Duster, the second most popular SUV, rose by 41 percent, with dealers listing it at about 1,618,000 rubles. In third place, the Toyota RAV4 recorded a 23 percent uptick, reaching approximately 2,671,000 rubles.
Other notable movements among top ten crossovers include the Lada Niva Travel at 21 percent higher prices for around 1,066,000 rubles, the Nissan Qashqai up 40 percent to about 2,337,000 rubles, and the Mazda CX-5 with a 38 percent increase to roughly 2,645,000 rubles. The Kia Seltos advanced 37 percent, placing it near 1,959,000 rubles. The Mitsubishi Outlander saw a significant 43 percent rise to 3,289,000 rubles, while the Nissan X-Trail climbed 38 percent to about 2,762,000 rubles. The Haval Jolion recorded the sharpest growth among the group at 56 percent, with an asking price around 2,179,000 rubles.
Earlier assessments noted that among three-year-old mass-market vehicles, the Peugeot 508, Lifan Solano, and Lifan X50 were among the most illiquid. These models typically lose roughly 30 percent of their original value after three years of operation, reflecting the depreciation pressures seen in the broader Russian market during that period.
These price dynamics highlight how popular crossovers can experience rapid value shifts in response to evolving supply chains, consumer demand, and currency movements. For buyers and sellers in Russia, tracking the trajectory of these model lines provides a clearer picture of market health and the relative cost of ownership over the mid-year horizon. The Avtostat analysis underscores the importance of considering long-term depreciation alongside sticker prices when evaluating vehicle affordability and resale potential, as evidenced by the tracked movements across the top-selling models.
