Sollers Group, the owner of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, has not confirmed that UAZ Patriot sport utility vehicles are being produced in the Central African Republic (CAR).
Officials from Sollers say they are examining the possibility, but there is no concrete information to share at this moment. An official representative explained that any details about a potential project are still in the early stages and not ready for disclosure.
The company has not provided a timetable or specifics on when more information might be released if the project moves forward.
There had been a report that UAZ Patriot production could be located in the Central African Republic, a claim discussed in an interview with the country’s ambassador to the Russian Federation, conducted with the publication Izvestia.
In that interview, the ambassador suggested that there were plans to assemble UAZ Patriot vehicles in the Central African Republic. He described the vehicles as strong and desirable for the region, noting that local roads present unique challenges that require capable and robust off road capabilities. He emphasized that a UAZ would be more suitable for the country’s needs than a different brand, and that Russian cars in particular hold appeal there.
Earlier reports indicated that the UAZ Patriot had been described as one of the most liquid models among Russian automobiles, highlighting its popularity and potential appeal in certain markets.
