Rosstandart has begun a formal recall on certain Mercedes-Benz models. More than 38,000 vehicles across the GL (Type 164), ML (Type 164), and R‑Class (Type 251) lines, produced between 2004 and 2014, are affected by this recall initiative [Rosstandart].
The trigger for the mass repair is progressive metal corrosion at the joint where the body meets the vacuum brake booster. Experts indicate that prolonged exposure to water due to long-term vehicle use can contribute to this issue. Corrosion compromises the vacuum booster’s seal, which can lead to a reduction in braking force at critical moments [Rosstandart].
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by the issuing agency or the manufacturer via phone or text messages. Individuals can also proactively check eligibility for recall by visiting the Rosstandart website and matching their vehicle’s VIN against the official recall list [Rosstandart].
Every recall-included vehicle will undergo a vacuum brake booster inspection. If a fault is found, the booster will be repaired or replaced at no cost to the owner. All qualifying repairs are scheduled to be performed free of charge, ensuring the braking system remains reliable over time [Rosstandart].
